What is THE grindhouse

We are a Micro Cinema and Coffee Shop. Our goal is to bring forgotten wonders and modern phenomena to the big(ish) screen. To remind the world, or at least Long Island, that there is more to film than big budget spectacles. We aim to screen overlooked films, offbeat gems, local artists, underseen masterpieces, and other mind melting oddities lost in the era of streaming. Join us daily for exceptional coffee and a constant projection of psychotronic cinema.

A grindhouse film refers to a category of low budget films that were typically shown in run down theatres known as grindhouses during the 1970s in the United States. The term grindhouse comes from the theaters located on 42nd street in New York city, which ground out cheap lurid films all day long. These films are known for their audacious themes, explicit violence, and sensationalist nature, offering an alternative to mainstream Hollywood. Add in the obvious connection to coffee grinds, and we have The Grindhouse… A little haven for coffee lovers and film lovers alike.
